 Some day is Eid

The first day of the month of Shawwal is called Eid-ul-Fitr and the 10th of the month of Zil-Hajj is called Eid-ul-Azha. In Islam, these two days are Eid and happy days. On these two days it is obligatory to pray two rak'ahs as thanksgiving. All the conditions described earlier for the Jumu'ar prayer to be pure and obligatory also apply to Eid. However, there is a difference in the provisions of the sermon.

Khutbah in Jumu'ar prayer is obligatory and a condition for purification of prayer. Jumu'ar Khutba is to be recited before Namaz. But the khutba in the two Eid prayers is not a condition and a duty, rather it is Sunnah and the khutba of the Eid prayer should be recited after the prayer. Of course, listening to two Eid sermons is wajib just like Friday sermons. That is, talking, walking, praying are all haram.

It is Sunnah to perform 13 acts on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. Namely:

 1. Shariah-compliant dressing.

 2. take a bath

 3. to miswalk

 4. Dress as best as possible.

 5. Perfumed.

 6. Waking up very early in the morning.

 7. Going to Eidgah early in the morning.

 8. Eating any sweets like dates or anything else before going to Eidgah.

 9. Donating Fitr in charity before going to the Eidgah,

 10. Praying Eid prayers in the Eidgah, that is, not praying Eid prayers in any mosque in the city without reason.

 11. Going to Eidgah on one road and coming back on another road.

 12. Going to Eidgah on foot.

 13. Reading takbeer in a low voice on the way to Eidgah.

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا اله إلا الله والله اَكْبَرُ الله اَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ وَاللَّهِ الْحَمْدُ .

How to perform Eid prayers

The rules for performing the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer are to first perform the following:

نَوَيْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّي لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى رَكْعَتَي الْوَاجِبِ صَلُوةِ عِيْدِ الْفِطْرِ مَعَ ست تكبيرات وَاحِبَةٍ

That is, "I intend to offer two rak'ahs of obligatory prayer on Eid-ul-Fitr with six obligatory takbeers."

After making this intention (raising the hands and saying Tahreema in takbeer) the hands will be tied. Then recite "Subhanaka Allahuma Abihamdika Watabara Kasmuka Watala Jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk". Then say "Allahu Akbar" three times. Each time in Takbeer raise both hands up to the ears like Tahreema and release the hands after the Takbeer. After each Takbeer delay long enough to say Subhanallah three times. After the third Takbeer release the hands. Then he recites Surah Fatiha and another Surah and bows down as usual.

Then stand for the second raat. In the second rak'ah, Surah Fatiha and any other Surah will be recited first. Then say three takbeers according to previous rules. But here after the third takbeer the hands are not tied; Rather, leave the hand and go into ruku with another takbeer.

Description of Eid prayer sermon

After the prayer, he will stand on the pulpit and recite two sermons. So much time will sit between both sermons, as much time as Jumu'ar sits between two sermons.

Making dua after the two Eid prayers (or after the sermon) is not proven by the Prophet (PBUH) and his Companions and the Tabeen and Tabe-Tabeen, but generally since it is Sunnah to make dua after other prayers, it is Sunnah to make dua after the two Eid prayers as well (Qiyas-based issue).

The two Eid sermons will first begin with Takbeer. Allahu Akbar will be said 9 times in the first sermon and 7 times in the second sermon.
